The club provides a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for players of all levels. New faces are always welcome!
We meet at 7:10pm on Mondays (except bank holidays) at: Cleethorpes Leisure Centre.
If you want to visit, you can email us at grimsbychess@gmail.com, or you'd be more than welcome to just turn up on an evening.

You're always welcome to turn up for a couple of nights and play a few games to see how you feel about things.
If you feel like coming more regularly we have a few different options:
Adults:

If you decide later to become a full member, we will, of course, subtract anything previously given
from the £80.

The time control is 30 moves in 75 minutes + 15 minutes sudden death.
The next points night is on a night yet to be decided.
The scoring system is as follows:
- The number of points you recieve for a win is your opponent's grade, and a bonus if you have a lower grade, or else a handicap.
- The bonus / handicap is half the difference between the grades, rounded up.
- If there is a draw, both players recieve half of what they would have had they won.
Rapidplay games can be played against anyone you haven't played rapidplay with already. You play one game each as white. Games are played on points / rapidplay nights.
The time control is 25 minutes sudden death.
The next points / rapidplay night is on an unknown date.

Ten minute games are played in a standalone competion every 10 minute night. The format is as close to a round robin as can be done in a reasonable amount of time. Otherwise it has a more Swiss-like format for the sake of fairness, especially when there's a good turnout.
The time control is 10 minutes sudden death.
The next 10 minutes night is on an unknown date.
